Artist's Statement
" A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man  contemplates it, bearing within him  the image of a cathedral."

-Antoine De Saint-Exupery
From the beginning man has created beautiful images and with each era certian symbols have evolved to mean different things.  I enjoy taking these symbols from different time periods and different cultures and using them in a new context -- forming a relationship between their original meaning and what they now mean to me.

My art always starts with a symbol - a plant - a fish - a native design or representation of fire, earth or water.  What the final piece communicates is not always the orginal message of the icon.  I use many of these images to conjure up feelings within people.  Symbolism is a personal experience and I hope that each work somehow challenges your ideas about what you assume to be a meaning of a particular image.

Through my art, I hope to show that everything is connected-- our ideas, our perceptions and our self-imposed view of symbols.  How am I connected to the earth I walk on, the water I drink and the person next to me?

Every person is motivated to create -  my expression starts with a symbol and takes form on canvas or paper.
